So after nearly not making it to Indy International due to 465 being a complete sheet of ice I just touched down in Denver and am now back in the air on my way to phoenix. I have never been so appalled at Indiana’s road crews. I counted probably 12 accidents from Westfield to Indy and 0 salt trucks. Semis were jackknifed, cars were backwards on the interstate and I was running late.
However, as soon as I touched down in Phoenix things started looking up. My sister, Lindsey, was waiting for me at the airport to pick me up. We got in the car and drove. We then drove some more. We then realized we were driving in the wrong direction, so we pulled over, I snagged a wireless hotspot and Google Maps saved us.
We had a pretty eventful Christmas. And by eventful I mean old drunk people. Real old. Like…decomposing. Just kidding, it was a blast seeing my grandma and grandpa and uncles and aunts (one of which suffers from dementia, so much fun) whom I haven’t seen the likes of in 5 years.
After my sister left, my mom and I went out shopping at a mall that would embarrass any of the malls in Indy. Kate Spade, Luis Vitton, Michael Kors, Chanel, and Dior stand-alone stores. Just to name a few. Afterwards we ate a delicious dinner at a restaurant / bar type place that played excellent 90′s music where I had an amazing (-ly girly) drink that I think I remember;

Anyway, it was delicious.
On my last day my mother and I went to the shooting range at Scottsdale Gun Club. This place was intense. They had a live round tactical room, like what cops and military train on, as well as a vast collection of handguns, shotguns, and carbines. Of course, we were there for the shooting range, and since it was my mother’s first time shooting, we stuck with 9mm’s. We used an H&K USP compact as well as a Springfield Armory XD. Both very gorgeous weapons, I found the USP to feel more aggressive and fit slightly better in my hand, while the XD seemed to fire more smoothly, from trigger squeeze to recoil. Watching my mom shoot targets was a proud moment for me, and she did pretty well given her first time.
And to top off my fabulous Christmas, I received some very welcome text messages and a phone call from a certain Chicagoan.
